Antisocial House
This is the configuration of the apartments of The Factory, the Universal Apartment series reworked for conventional construction and new norms of social distance. The main innovation is a double-sided elevator directly accessing the apartments, obviating the need for the secondary staircase.
This elevator uses the designated floor reservation system of operation whereby persons are conveyed to their destination floors one trip at a time. The elevator is never shared with others except when accompanying them to their apartment. Such a system also works for unattended deliveries.
The desired for naturally-ventilated unenclosed spaces pushed this elevator to the outside where it accesses a private balcony from which the apartment is entered either via the kitchen or bathroom.
The slideshow shows the derivation, culminating in Version 4.2. There is a fundamental conflict between the elevator having both natural ventilation and privacy.
