New Mews

This is a proposal for a housing system rather than for individual house plans. The construction system consists of concrete ground floor slabs, some kind of modular masonry element for party walls, steel beams at regular intervals supporting AAC floor panels. The relatively arbitrary roof construction is most likely sheet metal.

The planning system is modular with habitable rooms alternating with courtyards providing daylighting and ventilation from two directions. This system makes each dwelling inherently extendable while at the same time allowing for a diversity of household configurations, ways of living, and streetscape.

Garbage rooms, bicycle stores and other ancillary facilities such as a caretaker are located at the entrances to the mews that can be gated if required.
