These rooms for medical students were grouped in clusters of six with their own kitchen/dining rooms, and then paired around multiple access landings that were open yet screened.

 

Apartment clusters could be mirrored or rotated around these landings to allow the building to adapt to site boundary conditions. The building was conceived as a doughnut-shaped building with a central amenity area that was both sheltered and private. Configuring the building in this manner allowed that area to be as large as possible.
